About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Design Engineer with 0-5 years of experience in HVAC systems to join our dynamic team in Pretoria. Key Responsibilities

• Design all aspects of HVAC systems, including calculations, equipment selection, and system layouts.

• Prepare cost estimates and performance specifications.

• Issue marked-up drawings to the drawing office and review final drawings.

• Conduct quality checks and ensure compliance with industry standards.

• Compile Bills of Quantities for project planning and budgeting.

• Communicate effectively with clients and other professionals.

Qualifications: BEng Mechanical degree is required.

Junior Revit Draughtsman – HVAC & Wet Services

🎓 Required Certification: Revit for Mechanical Design Professional Certification

⌛ Experience: Approximately 5 years of general drafting experience, with exposure to plant, HVAC, and plumbing projects

About the Role

Acend Consulting Engineers is looking for a detail-oriented Junior Revit Draughtsman to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support our engineering projects by preparing and refining technical drawings using state-of-the-art design software. You will collaborate closely with engineers to ensure accuracy, resolve clashes, and streamline project documentation. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled draughtsman to work on specialized projects in the building services industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Setup & Drawing Creation: Set up projects and generate drawing sheets using Revit and AutoCAD.

• Design Quality & Review: Identify issues such as clashes or missing information in designs, performing thorough self-checks before submitting drawings for review.

• Clash Detection: Collaborate with external consultants to perform clash detection with services drawings.

• Documentation: Formally issue information to external parties and maintain proper document and revision control.

• Revit Family Management: Update and expand Revit families to ensure models meet project requirements.

• Data Configuration: Configure data for Bills of Quantities extraction, ensuring that models are accurate and reliable.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Certification & Technical Knowledge:

• Revit for Mechanical Design Professional Certification

• Familiarity with piping processes and P&ID interpretation

• Knowledge of pipe classifications, fittings, and plumbing systems

• Understanding of equipment and plant layouts (e.g., pumps, fans, chillers)

Desired Skills & Abilities:

• Strong logistical skills to layout ducting and piping systems cost-effectively

• A solid grasp of the drawings lifecycle, document control, and revision management

• Ability to produce detailed and accurate models for data extraction

• Integrity, reliability, and a high standard of accuracy in work

Tools & Software Proficiency

Primary Software:

• Revit Mechanical (including creation of parametric families/libraries)

• AutoCAD

Additional Tools:

• MS Excel (proficiency with spreadsheets, formulas, and CSV file handling)

• Navisworks for coordination and clash detection
